Regular Show: Mordecai & Rigby in 8-bit Land is the very first video game based on the hit Cartoon Network TV Show. Mordecai and Rigby are trapped inside a video game and must travel through the pixilated land of 8-Bit to find their way out. This hijinx-filled adventure is packed with platforming, space shooting, and old-school top down video game mania, and comes fully loaded with tons of Regular Show characters and jokes.

My son reviews a lot of video games. I put this one here as it is one of his favorites this season!

Skylanders Swap Force by @Activision

This 3rd installment in the Skylanders genre is proving to be as popular as the others. The first Skylanders started with a new form of gaming with an attachable platform to the game. The 2nd installment was a new series and story that added Giants to the game play. This 3rd Skylanders is all about the swap: characters can be pulled apart and reformed with a different top or bottom to create new characters with new powers.

And collecting all the characters is almost as big a business as the game itself. I myself have spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on all the characters from all 3 games. And will probably contnue to do so!

Disney Infinity Video Game System

The hot new video system from Disney. Using a new platform for gaming, Disney has created different worlds for you to mix and match many Disney characters for hours of game play. Fans can even create their own “toy boxes” that, if among the top 5 of the week, may be added into the Infinity world for anyone to download.

The toy figures are collectible as well. With an almost unlimited amount of Disney characters to draw upon (as long as they keep making new movies!), this game will be hot for many years to come. Additionally, Disney owns the Marvel and Star Wars franchises, when they enter the Infinity world, all bets are off!

Nickelodeon Video Games – Dance 2 and Bubble Guppies

Looking for video games for younger kids then consider two games from 2K Play, Nickelodeon Dance 2 and  Nickelodeon Bubble Guppies:

Nickelodeon Dance 2 (2K Play) – You can dance with your favorite Nickelodeon characters including Molly, Gil, Nonny, Deema, Milli, Geo, Bot, Kai-lan, Rintoo, Tasha, Tyrone, Pablo, Dora, Diego, Boots, Swipder, Kiki, Shout, and more! There are 30 popular songs plus a new ‘Freeze Dance’ mode that will keep kids on their toes with a twist on the classic game ‘musical statues’. There is also an enhanced ‘Workout’ section to promotess heart-healthy activities like arm circles and lunges. I like the multi-player capability which allows kids and a friend, parent, or grandparent to move and groove on every song. $39.99 SRP, and is available for Nintendo Wii and XBOX 360 Kinect.

Nickelodeon Bubble Guppies  (2K Play) – Nickelodeon’s very popular Bubble Guppies dance Jump into a watery world of learning and laughter. This is a  hilarious, rockin’, interactive show that teaches kids about a wide range of topics–from dinosaurs to dentists, rock & roll to recycling, and colors to cowboys. Through these topics, kids learn about science, math, literacy, and much more in this preschool musical comedy set in a vibrant, aquarium-inspired underwater classroom. Molly, Gil, and their fish-tailed classmates are just like all preschoolers-learning about the world around them through playful investigation. Rated EC for Early Childhood. $29.99 SR is available for Nintendo DS.

Nintendo Wii Video Games!

I have included 2 recent ones we reviewed.

We have watched thre Transformers for years. Getting to play AS one of your favorite Autobots is great fun!

We have watched Ben 10 for years. Again, getting to fight as one of your favorite aliens from Ben’s Omnitrix is great fun.

This is just 2 examples of the great video games out there, the role playing is perfect for your children who have been watching these shows and now get to actively participate in role playing with their favorites!

Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect!

My favorite video console. We purchased this system last holiday season and we love the exercise component this video gaming system offers. You are in the game, the motion sensors read your movements. You can ride a Star Wars pod racer, play with light sabers, all while standing in your own living room! And the Dance video games for this sytem are loads of fun and all Kinect games seem to offer a great exercise opportunity!

Warner Bros. Harry Potter for the Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect

First, we love the Kinect. Second, we love all things Harry Potter!

You fly on a broom stick to play Quidditch, you mix potions, you cast spells with your wand. This game brings you right into the Harry Potter world, you become the wizard! Our top Kinect game pick.

Activision’s Skylanders Giants – 2012 Video Game Pick!

The second video game in the Skylanders franchise, this new game is immensely fun, and my son’s #1 pick for the holiday season. The adventures continue with the new characters, some of which are giants, and all with new powers. The franchise has stayed fresh and the enjoyment level remains high!

Skylanders Giants is rated E+10 by the ESRB. The game, technology, and Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation3 platforms were developed by Activision’s Novato, California studio, Toys for Bob, led by creative director and studio head Paul Reiche. The Nintendo 3DS platform was developed by n-Space and the Wii U platform was developed by Vicarious Visions. For more information, visit www.skylanders.com.
